“Fivetran has been essential to how we scale at Tines. It gives us real-time visibility into everything from product usage to go-to-market performance, without pulling engineers off core development. That clarity lets us move fast, launch smarter, and keep automation at the center of how we grow.”
Colm O’Grada, Head of Data at Tines

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Dublin and Boston, Tines is an AI-powered automation platform that empowers teams to build, run, and monitor mission-critical workflows — including automated case management, threat intelligence, systems monitoring, and more. The company’s growth has been rapid — serving more than 400 industry-leading customers including Coinbase, GitLab, Mars, and Reddit.

To support this momentum, Tines has expanded its workforce by 50% over the past 12 months, employing more than 250 employees globally, with continued hiring across key hubs like Boston, Dublin, and San Francisco.

With its fast-escalating customer base and automation performance, Tines required robust and reliable data capabilities to understand its business and enhance its offerings. The team adopted Fivetran early as part of a strategic move to build a modern data stack, alongside Snowflake for warehousing and Omni for reporting. “For a dynamic, young start-up like ours, Fivetran created the kind of opportunity we needed to scale intelligently,” explains Colm O’Grada, Head of Data at Tines. “It gave us a fast, modern, and lightweight way to connect our data sources and centralise them with minimal friction.”

How Tines unlocks fast, flexible access to business-critical data with Fivetran

Fivetran plays a central role in helping Tines streamline data integration across multiple business functions. “Getting fresh data into our warehouse is really important,” O’Grada says. “Fivetran makes that very easy in a lot of ways.” He outlines 3 primary use cases:

1. Third-party data

Access to reliable, up-to-date go-to-market data is essential for Tines. Fivetran’s Salesforce connector has become particularly valuable, ensuring that clean, consistent data flows directly into Snowflake, powering reporting and analytics with confidence.

Fivetran also simplifies the ingestion of NetSuite data. “We were up and running in under 10 minutes,” O’Grada notes. For a growing company like Tines, having timely access to financial data is critical for planning, forecasting, and ensuring operational efficiency, making the ease of integration especially valuable.

2. Internal tool integration

Tines also uses Fivetran’s Amazon S3 connector to ingest data from its own internal tools, surfacing product usage insights that inform both operations and strategic decisions — such as identifying feature adoption trends, optimizing resource allocation, and prioritizing development efforts. As a result, pipelines can be spun up quickly without engineering delays.

3. Ad-hoc data connectivity

Finally, Fivetran’s Webhooks connector gives Tines the flexibility to handle one-off or custom data flows without engineering complexity. It enables the team to quickly and securely send data from automated workflows directly into Snowflake — no custom code required. This flexible approach also extends to other sources like HubSpot, Google Drive, and email, allowing Tines to move data on demand, whenever and wherever it’s needed.

“Fivetran is hugely valuable whether I’m building something ongoing or running a one-off job,” O’Grada says. “It makes life very easy.”

Freeing engineering to drive innovation and impact

Fivetran enables Tines’ lean data team to focus their engineering efforts on high-impact initiatives like generative AI (GenAI). This mirrors the low-code philosophy at the core of Tines’ own platform: While it’s possible to build integrations manually, it’s rarely the most efficient choice. “Onboarding Fivetran is effortless — it handles the heavy lifting behind the scenes so we can focus on delivering insights,” O’Grada says. “That’s the magic of it.”

As Tines expands its go-to-market stack, Fivetran remains a core enabler of fast, scalable, and secure data operations. In fact, not only does it simplify those operations, but it also influences broader decisions across the business — such as vendor selection, with easy, plug-and-play data integration. “Fivetran having fully managed connectors for different tools is a big plus for me when I’m evaluating vendors,” O’Grada notes. “It means we can get up and running quickly without building custom pipelines, which saves us engineering time, reduces onboarding costs, and lowers the risk of data delays or errors.”

Moving forward, Tines remains focused on delivering continuous value to its business users, building on the momentum of launching nearly one new feature per working day last year. The company is now accelerating AI research and development with its Workbench GenAI interface, a universal copilot that allows users to manage workflows using natural language through a language learning model (LLM)-powered experience. Tines uses Fivetran to extract customer data from various systems and load it into Snowflake, where Workbench can access it and surface the right information to the Customer Solutions Engineering (CSE) team in real time.

They are also investing in AI-driven automation for IT operations and security while prioritising enterprise-grade privacy and compliance. Tines now automates over 1 billion tasks each weekly, a figure that has tripled in the past year.

As Tines builds more automations and deepens its enterprise capabilities, it relies on Fivetran to stay simple, stable, and seamlessly integrated.
