Adragos Pharma, a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) founded in 2020, is driving rapid growth through an ambitious acquisition strategy. Adragos currently operates 5 production sites in France, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, and Japan and a development site in Greece.  

With a lean team of just over 1,500 employees, Adragos aims to secure its place among the top 15 global pharmaceutical contractors by 2027. This vision is fueled by its ability to adapt quickly to the evolving demands of digital health and personalized medicine, positioning Adragos as a leader in the pharmaceutical industry’s advancement.

As Adragos grew, it encountered some challenges common in the pharmaceutical sector, including cost pressures, technological demands, and regulatory scrutiny. Centralizing fragmented data across its diverse sites — each operating with different tools and legacy systems — was essential.

Unlocking SAP insights faster

Bastian Baur, Global Head of Digitalization & IT at Adragos, faced the challenge of consolidating disparate data across the organization — a complex task requiring careful consideration of tools and architecture. After conducting thorough research and evaluating multiple solutions, Baur identified Fivetran as an innovative and efficient option, particularly for SAP S/4HANA.

Previously, the data team had spent significant time addressing workflow failures that delayed SAP data availability, a bottleneck that impeded timely decision-making. With Fivetran, Adragos gained reliable, continuous access to critical data insights, significantly reducing delays, streamlining operations, and enabling a scalable reporting model that supports long-term growth.

With Fivetran, Adragos created a robust data foundation, a critical step in supporting Adragos' ambitious acquisition strategy. Integrating tools like Snowflake, dbt, and PowerBI allowed Adragos to centralize and standardize SAP data across newly acquired construction sites. This seamless integration ensured rapid access to key insights, enabling the company to evaluate performance, streamline operations, and align with its growth objectives.

Standardizing data processes to deliver faster, smarter decisions

When Adragos completes an acquisition, its primary focus is on manufacturing potential. In some cases, acquired sites lack IT infrastructure, with systems lost or changed during the transition. For the Adragos data team, the top priority after an acquisition is quickly gaining visibility into the site’s core KPIs — and Fivetran provides a transformative solution.

Using a simple import process via SharePoint, Adragos consolidates essential KPIs from Excel to monitor site performance. Then, made possible with Fivetran, data is integrated from sources like sales, operations, procurement, and production. Currently, Fivetran supports Adragos locations in France, Germany, and Japan. At the Munich office, HR data — such as hiring metrics and application processes — flows through Personio, while commercial data and reporting are powered by HubSpot integrations. Each acquisition brings a unique data landscape, but Fivetran ensures seamless alignment, playing a critical role in enabling Adragos’ expansion and operational success.

With centralized data, Adragos can standardize processes and implement real-time reporting across all locations, helping leadership make faster, data-driven decisions. For example, a recent supply chain report enabled Adragos to renegotiate procurement contracts and drive measurable cost savings.
