Black History Month Fivetranner Spotlight: Marnae Cooper

Meet our teammate, Marnae, in this week’s Black History Month Spotlight.
February 16, 2021

The Fivetran team is excited to celebrate Black History Month by spotlighting some exceptional employees who are making and defining Black History in the data industry. See what makes Marnae Cooper, a Senior Talent Operations Specialist, special.

If you didn’t have a career in tech, what would you do?

If I didn't have a career in tech I would probably be doing something in art or media. I've always gravitated towards the arts but in college I had a stronger calling toward social sciences.

How do you celebrate Black History Month?

I celebrate Black History Month by reading at least one book by a black author whether it's fiction or nonfiction. I'm currently reading Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid.

Who’s a black unsung hero you wish more people knew about?

Ernie Chambers — he's from my Dad's hometown and is one of the longest-serving Nebraska state senators.

What’s one positive experience that has come out of the pandemic for you?

A positive experience to come from the pandemic is the time I've been able to spend with my family. It's been fun to be able to refer to my mom as one of my coworkers.
