Black History Month Fivetranner spotlight: Joseph Long

Meet our teammate, Joseph, in this week’s Black History Month Spotlight.
February 9, 2021

The Fivetran team is excited to celebrate Black History Month by spotlighting some exceptional employees who are making and defining Black History in the data industry. See what makes Joseph Long, marketing campaign manager in our Oakland office, special.

What do you enjoy most about working at Fivetran?

People exemplify our core values – specifically, One Team, One Dream (1T1D), and Initiative. Fivetran teammates take pride in ownership/accountability and still take the time to jump in and assist whenever help is needed. This is such a great combo.

If you didn’t have a career in tech, what would you do?

Probably something in higher education. I love learning new things and sharing knowledge. Being a career student sounds pretty nice, too.

Who’s a black unsung hero you wish more people knew about?

Icon and trailblazer Shirley Chisholm because she’s a woman of many firsts, including the first black congresswoman and the first black woman to run for president (among many other accolades).

What’s one positive experience that has come out of the pandemic for you?

I’ve been able to get reacquainted with video games! For example, I’ve played Spiderman: Miles Morales all the way through. I can't remember the last time I've done that. I’m currently looking for a new adventure – might you have a new suggestion?

Join us next Tuesday as we highlight another Fivetran teammate!

If you’re interested in working at Fivetran, please let us know — we’re growing! We have openings across most teams and regions, and we’d love to hear from you.
