At Fivetran, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging are core tenets to achieving 1 team, 1 dream. Throughout the year, Fivetran celebrates different communities and identities, recognizing that our differences are a strength in furthering our mission. Pride Month is a very important time to honor and show allyship toward the LGBTQIA+ community, and we know that it requires more than wearing a rainbow t-shirt and waving a flag on Pride weekend.
“We started the ERG program a few years ago and we’ve been deliberate about the fact that every ERG needs an executive sponsor on the leadership team so that they are heard and represented at the very top levels of the company,” says Taylor Brown, Fivetran’s chief operating officer and executive sponsor of the PRIDE ERG.
To honor the diversity and inclusivity of our growing network at Fivetran, first and foremost — we’ve recently revamped our existing employee resource group to Fivetran PRIDE, a global community of LGBTQIA+ members and allies advancing LGBTQIA+ interests in collaboration with our newly dedicated global director of DEI & belonging.
Throughout the month and beyond, our PRIDE ERG hosted various programs to ensure our LGBTQIA+ team members feel continuously supported by the business and our colleagues.
Virtual drag bingo
Fivetran hosted a global drag-themed bingo party to kick off the month of events. We invited the Queen of Bingo, Charlie Hides, to host this fun filled event for our teams across the globe. Each player received a personalized bingo card prior to the event, and played to win during this interactive and entertaining bingo party.
Discussion panels
While celebratory events allow us a platform to show our pride and support, we also recognize the tough topics and difficult discussions that need to be had. Fivetran invited thought leaders and pillars of the LGBTQIA+ community to lead listening sessions and gender discussions for our employees, as well as an event to address mental health in the PRIDE community.
“One of the things that Fivetran does really great is that we are actively working to create those spaces, those opportunities, and give voices to folks who haven’t had a seat at the table,” says Cat Origitano, senior director of product marketing. “I haven’t seen a place so dedicated to that progress and doing it all together.”
Going beyond Pride Month
We recognize the importance of continuously supporting our colleagues to actively build an inclusive work environment where everyone of all identities feel welcomed, seen and valued. One of the ways in which we actively work towards an inclusive environment for the LGBTQIA+ community is creating queer-centered spaces, in addition to educational programming throughout the year on topics such as gender inclusivity, allyship, and mental health.
