— Vincent Faburel, Head of Data & Backend Products at Interflora
Established over 75 years ago, Interflora operates in 130 countries, delivering millions of bouquets, plants and gifts globally. The Interflora France group, comprising 280 employees across eight markets — including France, Italy and Sweden — processes 4 million orders annually. The group partners with 7,000 independent florists and also operates Mygift, a subsidiary offering personalised gifts through cadeaux.com. With customer satisfaction as a core focus, Interflora uses NPS (Net Promoter Score) to gauge customer experience and loyalty, boasting an impressive score of 40 — well above the industry average.
During the pandemic in 2020, as online orders surged, Interflora recognised the growing importance of its data. However, the organization encountered significant obstacles: data was siloed and disconnected, manual processes led to frequent errors, and there was no dedicated data team in place to manage and optimise operations.
During this period, the backend team was responsible for supplying and verifying data while maintaining existing reports. With the support of Nicolas Pastorino, the Chief Product & Digital Officer, who championed and encouraged data initiatives, Interflora made a decisive commitment to becoming a truly data-driven enterprise.
In September 2021, Interflora made data a cornerstone of its corporate strategy, expanding its team with new hires, including a data engineer and a data scientist. The company also brought on Fivetran as a critical solution for modernizing and automating their data integration. By implementing Fivetran, Interflora centralised data across its key systems, enabling faster, more reliable data access across the company and laying the groundwork for its ambitious expansion strategy.
“Fivetran enables us to centralise trustworthy data on an automated platform, accelerating our growth strategy and delivering value across the group.”
— Vincent Faburel, Head of Data & Backend Products, Interflora
Analysts across all markets can now access data on a self-service basis, breaking down silos while maintaining compliance.
Fivetran has delivered significant value:
- 200+ BI reports created, driving actionable insights.
- Global alignment: Teams across Spain, Luxembourg and Sweden now share KPIs and collaborate more effectively.
- Enhanced teamwork: The Product and Engineering teams collaborate more closely, driving innovation and operational efficiency.
“Our teams now speak the same language across markets, helping each other and aligning on KPIs. This collaboration adds immense value to the company,” adds Faburel.
Interflora’s next milestone includes deploying a data catalog to improve visibility and launching a platform for machine learning and AI. These advancements will enable the group to further secure its European growth by leveraging automated, high-quality data to power innovation.
