Fivetran supports Microsoft OneLake as a destination through integration with Microsoft Fabric

For customers using Microsoft’s Data Lake offerings, they can securely land data in Delta Lake format from any one of Fivetran’s 400+ source connectors.

We are excited to announce that Fivetran’s support for Microsoft OneLake in Microsoft Fabric as a new data lake destination is generally available. This is our second data lake destination with Microsoft, as Delta Lake on Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2) became GA in September. 

With Fivetran’s automated data extraction, cleansing, conforming and converting data to Delta Lake format, customers can move faster as they build the foundation for business initiatives like AI and ML projects. Structured, governed and ready-to-query data is critical for analysts and data scientists to deliver on high-value business initiatives. 

Why is Fivetran’s new OneLake destination a big deal?

Microsoft announced general availability of OneLake in Microsoft Fabric at this week’s Ignite conference. OneLake is a solution for a single tenant that doesn’t require provisioning or setup and gives customers easy access to their data through a file explorer, similar to Microsoft OneDrive for files. Using Fivetran, customers can land data directly in their OneLake workspace from any Fivetran source without any SQL commands or custom configuration. Once the data is in OneLake, businesses can define filtered areas for users to define and control access.

Data-driven organizations face challenges when consolidating data from multiple sources. Each source requires a pipeline to land data in the chosen destination. Building and maintaining pipelines is a time-consuming process, as many sources have unique requirements coupled with API updates and evolving schemas that often break the connection. Using Fivetran for data ingestion into OneLake or Delta Lake on Azure Data Lake reduces this burden and provides the lakehouse structure that enables analytics as soon as the data lands. 

The key to this process is the automated conversion into Delta Lake format.
