Billing
Why don't I get 500k free monthly active rows (MAR) when I’m on a paid plan?
The 500k free MAR allowance is available only to customers on Fivetran’s Free Plan. Once you upgrade to a paid plan (Standard, Enterprise, or Business Critical), your usage is billed based on your actual MAR consumption at your plan’s rate.
How do I set up payment through the AWS Marketplace?
You can subscribe to Fivetran directly through the AWS Marketplace. Simply search for Fivetran, select your preferred plan, and complete the subscription to link billing to your AWS account.
How do I set up my payment through the Google Cloud Marketplace?
You can subscribe via the Google Cloud Marketplace. Search for Fivetran, choose your pricing plan, and enable billing through your Google Cloud organization.
Can I switch from credit card billing to invoiced billing?
Yes. You can switch from monthly, pay-as-you-go credit card billing to an annual invoiced contract in 2 ways:
- Through the Fivetran product: Build and initiate your annual contract directly in the UI.
- Through your renewal manager: They can assist you in setting up and finalizing your annual contract.
Note: Annual contracts require a minimum spend of $12,000 and often include discounts based on your commitment level.

Pricing & price estimates
Where can I find my pricing estimate?
You can view and customize your pricing estimate at fivetran.com/pricing-estimator or directly in your Billing & Usage dashboard under Account Settings.
What does my monthly estimate mean? How can I predict costs?
Your monthly estimate projects your expected MAR-based spend for the month. Because billing is based on actual usage, final costs may vary depending on how much your data changes. To better predict costs, monitor your Billing & Usage dashboard and use the Pricing Estimator to model expected MAR and sync frequency.
Am I billed for resync?
No, Fivetran provides free resyncs. You’re only billed for data that has changed. MAR includes rows that are inserted, updated, or deleted during the billing cycle. If a resync modifies rows, those changes count toward your MAR total.
Does increasing sync frequency increase my costs?
Not directly. MAR is based on the number of unique rows inserted, updated, or deleted – not on sync frequency. However, higher sync frequency may require an upgrade to a more advanced plan (e.g., Enterprise or Business Critical).
Does increasing my transformations model runs increase costs?
Potentially. Every plan includes 5,000 free model runs per month. If you exceed this limit, additional usage will be billed. On the Free Plan, going over the limit may trigger overages or 5,000 require an upgrade to continue using transformations.
What’s the difference between syncs and MAR?
- Syncs: Scheduled jobs that pull data from your sources.
- MAR (Monthly Active Rows): The number of unique rows inserted, updated, or deleted across all syncs in a month.
Billing is based on MAR, not the number of syncs.
My usage estimate seems high, how can I lower costs?
You can reduce MAR and costs by:
- Excluding non-essential tables or columns from connectors.
- Pausing unused connectors.
- Reducing transformation model runs.
- Reviewing whether a lower pricing tier better fits your needs.
- Using the Usage Dashboard to identify high-MAR connectors and optimize them.
Setup
What are Quickstart transformations, and why do I see them running?
Quickstart transformations are prebuilt dbt models provided by Fivetran to help you get started with data transformations. They show how you can enrich your synced data. These models may count toward your monthly model runs and impact usage-based costs.
Why can't I deselect certain tables from my schema (Parent/Child tables)?
Some tables are linked through dependencies in your source schema. Fivetran automatically includes related parent or child tables to preserve data integrity and relational structure. These linked tables cannot be deselected individually.
How do I connect Fivetran to Snowflake?
Follow our onboarding video for a step-by-step guide to connecting Fivetran with Snowflake.
Should I use a data warehouse or a data lake?
It depends on your use case:
- Use a data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) for structured, analytics-ready data.
- Use a data lake (e.g., S3, Azure Data Lake) for large, unstructured, or semi-structured data – ideal for storage or machine learning workloads.
Security
Where can I find security information?
All Fivetran security and compliance documentation, including SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR certifications, is available on the Security & Trust Portal.
